Our goal is to help participants become an engaged and active community member by teaching essential skills to help them thrive in their daily lives and find meaningful opportunities. 

Café Skills

Learn the following skills whilst working in Paul’s Table Café:

  • Hygiene and Food safety
  • Preparing savoury and sweet dishes
  • Presenting and serving food
  • Kitchen Sanitation
  • Dealing with customers
  • Setting up and packing up café
  • Working with money
  • Preparing to go to work
  • Interacting with the local community

Barista Skills

Learn the following skills whilst working in Paul’s Table Café:

  • Hygiene and Food safety
  • Using the espresso machine
  • Preparing different types of coffee & tea
  • Making other types of beverages
  • Dealing with customers
  • Setting up and packing up café
  • Working with money
  • Preparing to go to work
  • Interacting with the local community

Retail (Opening Summer 2020/2021)

Learn the following skills whilst working in the local community friendly store the Bass Bower Bird:

  •  Preparing to go to work
  •  Setting up and packing up the store
  •  Assisting with stock purchasing and ordering
  •  Working with money
  •  Displaying goods
  •  Interacting with customers

&

House Keeping

Learn the following skills whilst working at the Island Accommodation located on Phillip Island:

  • Hygiene and sanitary practices
  • Following a schedule of duties
  • Interacting with the guests and staff
  • Being part of a team
  • Preparing to go to work
  • Interacting with the local community

Horticulture & Gardening

Just like a seed in soil, we nurture participant’s personal growth through hands on lessons, teaching skills in:

  •  Seed propagation
  •  Garden layout and design
  •  Plant and flower identification
  •  Planting and nurturing growth

Budgeting & Money Management Training

Our teacher Tracey draws on her experience as an accountant and financial counsellor to help participants with:

  • Understanding and tracking spending
  • Practising budgeting
  • Gaining greater financial independence
  • Completing Centrelink and other financial forms
  • Applying for rental tenancy or to undertake tenancy obligations

Community Access To Medical & Other Services

We take the participant to medical, dental and other appointments whilst providing them with social and community access. Our support includes but is not limited to:

  • Providing emotional and social support at the appointment
  • Shopping for the participant
  • Transport to and from the appointment (covered by the NDIS)
  • Concluding the trip with a coffee and a chat
